President Clinton Honors NHGRI Research Grant Recipient

BETHESDA, Md. - Sixty young researchers were honored by President Clinton as recipients of the fourth annual Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on young professionals at the outset of their independent research careers. It recognizes those who show exceptional potential for leadership at the frontiers of scientific knowledge.

Dr. Annelise E. Barron, assistant professor of chemical engineering in the Robert R. McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science at Northwestern University in Chicago, was one of the recipients for the 1999-2000 year. Barron's research is supported by the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and the Department of Energy's Genome Instrumentation Research Program.
