Tammar Wallaby Genome Sequencing
The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), in conjunction with the Australian Genome Research Facility Ltd. (AGRF), currently supports a project aimed at producing a draft assembly of the genomic sequence of the Tammar wallaby Macropus eugenii (to access the press release announcing this partnership, go to Kangaroo Hops in Line for Genome Sequencing). The genome will be sequenced to 2-fold sequence depth.
The wallaby sequencing project is being led by researchers at the Baylor College of Medicine Human Genome Sequencing Center and the AGRF in Melbourne, Australia.
