Each year the NHGRI Intramural Training Office sponsors the Three-Minute Talks (TmT) competition, in which trainees pitch their research topic and why they think it’s cool in just three minutes. To help refine their research stories, participants attend an initial science communication coaching session as a group, followed by one-on-one coaching. These sessions touch on various aspects of effective presentations, including content, clarity, pacing and visual storytelling. The trainees then present their research in this annual competition, competing with other trainees across NIH.
