Pre-Application Webinar: New Opportunity to Advance ELSI Research In Underrepresented Organizations

Event Details

The NHGRI’s Ethical, Legal and Social Implications (ELSI) Research Program hosted a Pre-Application Webinar for the Building Partnerships and Broadening Perspectives to Advance ELSI Research (BBAER) Program (RFA-HG-24-026). The purpose of the BBAER Program was to broaden the types of knowledge, skills, expertise, experience, and perspectives used in research addressing the ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) of advances in human genetics or genomics. The program includes four required elements: 1) ELSI research conducted by people from different disciplines (i.e., transdisciplinary), 2) research teams that include community representatives, 3) organizational capacity building for ELSI research, and 4) workforce development.

The Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) RFA-HG-24-026 is a limited competition whereby eligible applicants must be domestic organizations located in the United States and its territories that received less than $30 million per year in total NIH funding for the past three fiscal years. These organizations are underrepresented among those funded by NHGRI for ELSI research.

NHGRI staff provided an overview of the BBAER Program’s purpose and goals, NOFO RFA-HG-24-026, key application requirements, and eligibility information.
