Cultivating Science Communication with Dr. Neil Lamb, HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology
Event Details
As a scientist, educator, and public speaker, Neil Lamb has spent most of his professional career communicating complex scientific topics to others: students, educators, policymakers, donors, and the public at large. While there’s no magic formula to guarantee understanding, Dr. Lamb will share his approach to increase engagement and awareness. These tools apply for varying audiences and situations, whether you’re an early-career trainee or a seasoned professional.
Hybrid: Zoom Webinar (Requires Registration) and In-Person
About the Organizers
This event is co-hosted by NHGRI’s Engagement Methods Unit (EMU) and the Education and Community Involvement Branch (ECIB). EMU is part of the Social and Behavioral Research Branch (SBRB), and they develop new measures of genetic literacy, evaluate the impact and effectiveness of dissemination of genomic knowledge, and collaborate with practitioners to create an evidence base for genomic applications. ECIB develops education and community involvement programs to engage a broad range of the public in understanding genomics and accompanying ethical, legal, and social issues. ECIB also leads the NHGRI’s DNA Day programming and contact us if you’d like to get involved - dnaday@nih.gov.
