Nancy Sey is an Education Outreach Specialist in the Education and Community Involvement Branch at NHGRI. Nancy is a dedicated education and outreach specialist with extensive experience designing and implementing innovative STEM and genomics-focused programs.
Prior to joining ECIB, she served as the Genetics Education and Engagement Fellow at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) and the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG). In this role, she developed and evaluated genomics education programs, created instructional materials, and collaborated with researchers and educators to expand training opportunities for diverse leaners. She later joined NHGRI's Intramural Training Office, where she supported training initiatives, including designing engaging programming for summer students to enhance their professional development.
Nancy earned her PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she investigated the genetic underpinnings of substance use disorders. During her doctoral training, she developed a passion for science outreach, leading and participating in numerous initiatives to translate her research into accessible format.
