For MD (or equivalent) candidates with ABMGG Board Certification in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics*
In addition to leading the didactic component of the training program, the DGE/LGG PD will play a vital role in the clinical realm. The DGE/LGG PD will participate in the Genetics Consult Service, providing expert diagnosis and management recommendations for patients referred by other clinicians across the NIH. Furthermore, the DGE/LGG PD will actively engage with other clinical research groups throughout the NIH Clinical Center, offering educational workshops and consultations to enhance their understanding of genetic factors in various disease processes and empower them to confidently manage patients and participants with potential genetic involvement.
For PhD candidates with ABMGG Board Certification in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics*
Beyond expert diagnosis and management, the DGE/LGG PD will provide consultative services to other medical teams related to the use and interpretation of genetic/genomic tests. The DGE/LGG PD will engage with labs within NIH and will work closely with clinicians and researchers to advance personalized medicine at NIH and beyond.
* Candidates with ABMGG certification in Clinical Molecular Genetics and Genomics or Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics will be considered.
