Organizational Structure
The National Human Genome Research Institute's (NHGRI) organizational structure is divided into six divisions and the Office of the Director to reflect the emerging landscape of genomics research.
The Office of the Director oversees general operations; administration; communications; training, diversity, and health equity initiatives; and genomic data science activities for the National Human Genome Research Institute.
The Division of Extramural Operations conducts the review of NHGRI's grant applications and grants management.
The Division of Genome Sciences supports and accelerates foundational resources, technology development, experimental approaches, in basic genomics and functional genomics research. The Division also oversees a number of transformational initiatives and programs in genomic sciences.
The Division of Genomic Medicine promotes the NHGRI's efforts to advance the application of genomics to medical science and clinical care.
The Division of Genomics and Society focuses on the societal issues that need to be studied and addressed as genomics advances.
The Division of Intramural Research conducts scientific studies in NHGRI's labs on and around the NIH campus in Bethesda, Md.
The Division of Management oversees a wide range of NHGRI activities, from financial management to administrative services to information technology.
