NHGRI’s Training, Diversity and Health Equity (TiDHE) Office develops and supports initiatives that expand opportunities for genomics education and careers; cultivates genomics training programs and workforce development initiatives for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in biomedical research; and promotes and funds genomics research to improve minority health, reduce health disparities, and foster health equity.
The TiDHE office also provides leadership for implementation of NHGRI’s Action Agenda and helps to communicate the importance of the Action Agenda’s goals and objectives. More Information about the Action Agenda can be found here.
These centers aim to support the development of innovative genomic research projects through infrastructure building and the formation of interdisciplinary research teams at Minority Serving Institutions.
NHGRI provides both institutional and individual funding for programs that help provide education and training for genomic research. The programs offer opportunities at the undergraduate, postbaccalaureate, graduate, postdoctoral and faculty levels.
NHGRI encourages institutions to diversify their student and faculty populations to enhance the participation of individuals from groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical, clinical, behavioral and social sciences.
NHGRI Intramural Training Office helps provide an excellent environment for training the next generation of researchers and is proud to support training at all career levels.
